Life on our Ohio River

February 22, 2018 by Jim Epperson

My quickest route to work at the SoIN Tourism offices is to cross the Ohio River from Indiana into Kentucky then to cross it again back to Indiana. It’s not only faster, it’s a drive with some appeal.

Editor's Note: There's a reason they call it the "Mighty Ohio." Rain in our area and upstream this spring caused the Ohio River to flood in southern Indiana and Louisville. As of 11:33 a.m. on Feb. 26, local meteorologist Brian Goode says the river has crested and is receding. Many businesses remain open, but some have parking restrictions. If you're traveling to the area within the week, please check with businesses to make sure they're open. Photos of the flood demonstrate the river's awesome power. Please follow all safety rules posted and enjoy your trip.
