The winding Ohio River was a driving force behind 19th century development of the Midwest, including Southern Indiana. Home to Clark County, Indiana’s second-oldest county, and New Albany, Ind., once Indiana’s largest city, SoIN now offers visitors the perfect blend of downtowns and hometowns, riverside activities and farm experiences all while preserving the rich heritage from 390-million-year-old fossil beds and the Lewis and Clark expedition to steamboat history the Underground Railroad and more. Experience SoIN’s historic gems and picturesque downtowns, including a spooky evening walking tour. Taste the flavors of the local culinary scene and experience one of Indiana’s vibrant arts districts as it comes to life during Juneteenth celebrations.
