Spring has sprung, and the days are getting warmer. It won’t be much longer until Memorial Day weekend is here, which means a lot of events will be taking place in Southern Indiana. SoIN wants to give you a heads-up about some fun Memorial Day weekend events for residents and out-of-towners alike. From festivals to waterparks to outdoor recreation, there are tons of things to do in Southern Indiana during the long holiday weekend.
Signature Festivals
Abbey Road on the River – May 22-26, 2025
The largest Beatles fest in the United States has been a Kentuckiana staple for over twenty years. Enjoy live music from over fifty tribute bands from all across the world. Beatles fans can also enjoy food and beverages, peruse merchandise from vendors, and immerse themselves in interactive art. Festival-goers will be treated to a special performance by Mickey Dolenz, vocalist and drummer of the legendary 1960s pop band The Monkees. Tickets can be purchased on the Abbey Road on the River website or at the Southern Indiana Visitor Center.

Star Valley Strawberry Festival – May 23, 2026
Those who are looking to sweeten their day can attend the Star Valley Strawberry Festival in Borden. Food vendors will have a variety of strawberry-themed treats available to purchase at this day-long, family-friendly event featuring a pie eating contest, Little Mister & Miss Shortcake pageant and a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. The Fun Zone features family-friendly activities, including bounce houses, a petting zoo and horse rides! Attendees can also browse through the merchandise at the craft booths and enjoy live music throughout the day. Headlining this year’s lineup is Kirby Stailey & The Dash.
Seasonal Activities
U-Pick at Huber’s Orchard & Winery May – September
May means it’s time for U-PICK season at Huber’s Orchard & Winery! Spend some time picking fresh strawberries, a fun experience for the entire family. Visit Huber’s Orchard & Winery’s U-Pick webpage for additional information and future harvest dates. Harvest dates are subject to change. Give them a call before you visit to make sure the berries are ready for picking!
Weekend Brunch at the Starlight Café – Saturdays and Sundays
Those heading out to Huber’s Orchard & Winery are in for a treat - Weekend Brunch at Starlight Café! Located next to the gift shop and winery, Starlight Café offers a delicious meal in a beautiful atmosphere. The venue offers open seating, and no reservations are required. It’s the perfect way to kick off your day on the farm with family or friends!
Deam Lake State Recreation Area - Beach Opens May 23
You don’t have to go far for a beach vacation! Those wanting to spend some time outside can visit the Deam Lake State Recreation Area. The beach opens for the summer on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Those who would like to go out on the water can rent rowboats or kayaks from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends. Enjoy the beauty of nature out on the lake or on a hike with your friends and family. Explore more parks.
River Run New Albany Family Waterpark – Reopens May 23
Beat the heat by making a trip to River Run New Albany Family Waterpark! The entire family can have a good time on the waterslides and enjoy the lazy river. You can also soak up the sun and purchase some yummy treats at the concession stand.
Jeffersonville Aquatic Center – Reopens May 23
Cool off at the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center. Challenge your friends to a lap race in one, or both, of the competition pools. Chill out with family in the zero-depth entry pool. Those who want to spend time outside the water can relax on the sunbathing deck, go for a spin in the skate park, or go for a stroll on the paved walking trail. The center also offers a separate family locker room and a full-service concession stand.
Clarksville Cove Family Aquatic Center – Reopens May 23
This fun attraction offers three splash pads, body and tube slides, and a swimming pool. The water is heated for extra comfort. Visitors can also head over to the Toucan Café for refreshments. Do you have a child’s birthday coming up? Make arrangements for the party at the Birthday Zone. There is a lot to do at the Clarksville Cove Family Aquatic Center!

SoIN Fun Trail Begins May 22!
Whether you are a local or are visiting from out of town, SoIN has many family-friendly businesses to explore. 2026 marks the sixth year of the SoIN Fun Trail passport program. Participants can sign up for the FREE digital passport starting Friday, May 22, 2026 – just in time for Memorial Day Weekend! The passport can then be used for the entire summer!
