The revolution is still brewing – and continues to be led by women. Southern Indiana is proudly the home of audacious women who continue to break barriers and become leaders in business, advocacy and their communities.

Deidra Collins is bringing her knowledge from other industries to transform the way we gather together and conduct business. She offers a hub for entrepreneurial women to put their best foot forward in business and share resources.

Let’s meet Deidra Collins:

Deidra Collins

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your business?

Wall Street Suites

My name is Deidra Collins, and I am proud to call Jeffersonville my hometown. I specialize in transforming side hustles into thriving businesses. As the owner of Wall Street Suites, located in the heart of downtown Jeffersonville, I am dedicated to providing a unique office space designed to uplift and empower women, helping them achieve economic success for themselves and their community. At Wall Street Suites, we offer office suites for lease, a conference room, co-working spaces and a small event space to support your business needs.

What is the story behind your business name?

Indeed, the office is situated on Wall Street in Jeffersonville, and the name Wall Street Suites exudes a sense of prosperity and success. My vision is for everyone who enters Wall Street Suites to thrive and achieve great success in their business ventures.

What inspired you to start your business, and how did you take the first step?

The lack of visibility and community among women entrepreneurs in Southern Indiana is what inspired me to start Wall Street Suites. I knew these incredible women were out there, but I didn't know how to connect with them. My goal was to create a hub for collaboration and support, allowing women to uplift each other and thrive in their business ventures. Wall Street Suites is more than just an office space—it's a community where women can come together, share ideas and succeed together.

What advice would you give to other women looking to start their own business?

One crucial piece of advice I have for women looking to start their own business is collaboration over competition. Strive to be the best and most successful, but remember, there's enough room at the table for everyone. Creating or joining a supportive circle that is not family is essential. This circle should be a safe space where honesty, accountability, and celebration thrive. To achieve success, having a reliable accountability partner is invaluable.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about your business?

Guess what? We’re not just about empowering women, we’re all about having a great time too! While our mission is to uplift women, we love seeing everyone come together at Wall Street Suites. Guys, come on over! We've had men book our conference room for intense brainstorming sessions, hang out in our co-working spaces, and even throw awesome events in our event space. From book launches to corn-hole tournaments and cigar & bourbon round tables, Wall Street Suites is the place where creativity and fun collide. So, bring your best vibes and join the party!

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

The Money, Honey! I had to learn to adapt and refine my initial execution plan for Wall Street Suites. By transforming the larger suite into a conference room available for hourly rental and utilizing the executive side as an Airbnb, I was able to generate additional revenue streams while still offering valuable services.

What advice would you give to other women looking to start their own business?

Listen up, ladies! Before you even think about launching, hire a business strategist and accountant. I wish someone had given me this advice earlier. I was so excited about the vision and aesthetics; I forgot about the boring business stuff. Having a strategist and accountant will save you money, avoid headaches, and give you a rock-solid game plan. As my fabulous Business Strategist put it, “hope is not a strategy.” At Wall Street Suites, we've got the best in-house talent for strategy and accounting. Come see us.

Deidra and women like her continue to pour into our communities and pave the way for us all to feel inspired to have the opportunity to do what we love – whether the work is raising children, dedicating time and resources to causes or starting a business. The remarkable resilience of SoIN women in the face of many challenges adds a special radiance to our community.
