Taylorsville Lake

Taylorsville Lake is located on the Salt River beginning at river mile 78 about 5 miles west of Glensboro and extends downstream to the dam at river mile 60.  The Lake is 18 miles long and extends into portions of Spencer, Nelson and Anderson Counties of Kentucky.  The lake is 3050 surface acres at summer pool.  There are four boat ramps, a campground and several miles of multi-use trails managed by the Kentucky Department of Parks.  The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife manages an approximately 9,000-acre Wildlife Management Area.

This lake has produced numerous Ordovician fossils including crinoids and brachiopods. Along the lake, you can find exposed limestone and tabulate coral heads.
