The Chamber Music Society of Louisville, founded in 1938, is Kentucky’s oldest chamber music organization. This all-volunteer, non-profit music organization produces a five-concert series annually, bringing the greatest chamber music artists in the world to Louisville. The list of performing artists contains many of the greats of the past and the present: Budapest String Quartet, Beaux Arts Trio, Juilliard String Quartet, Guarneri String Quartet, Borodin String Quartet, Tokyo String Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, Takács Quartet, and Dover String Quartet. A significant part of the Society’s educational mission is the production of the annual Macauley Chamber Music Competition for High School and College ensembles and masterclasses with many of the concert series artists. Performances are held in the acoustically acclaimed Margaret Comstock Concert Hall, 105 W Brandeis Ave., Louisville, KY. Visit us at louisvillechambermusic.org.
