Well Southern Indiana, it’s been a minute since we enjoyed our very own craft beer festival. That’s all about to change when the new Rollin’ on the River Beer Fest drops anchor at the Howard Steamboat Museum in Jeffersonville on June 8, 2024. Presented by Pearl Street Taphouse & Antz Marching, LLC (founders of Fest of Ale) the gathering promises a catalog of local, regional and even international brews curated by local beer aficionados.

Donum Dei Brewing Growler Blog

Attendees will get the chance to sample more than 100 craft brews, including some from sponsors Butchertown Brewing (Louisville), Great Lakes Brewing Co. (Cleveland) and 450 North Brewing Co. (Columbus, IN). Donum Dei Brewery and Floyd County Brewing Company will be representing SoIN, as well as our friends at Upland Brewing Company, headquartered just up the road in Bloomington. Carriage House Howard Steamboat

Riquisimo Food Truck, Dock Seafood Concessions and Fireside Tender Vendor will be on hand in case you need a little snack in between drinks. Pearl Street Taphouse will also have food set up in the Carriage House, featuring an express window for VIP ticket holders. Runaway Souls, a fuzz pop, rock and roll band from Louisville, will provide musical entertainment and Union Restaurant and Gameyard is bringing the Cornhole and Trash Can Beer Pong for some friendly competition.

Howard Steamboat Museum

While plenty of fun will be had, the event will also raise money to benefit the Howard Steamboat Museum, celebrating its 130th year in 2024. Once home to the famous Howard steamboat building family of Jeffersonville, the 22-room mansion offers visitors a glimpse of the historic steamboat era that saw Jeffersonville and other river cities grow and thrive.

What Items are Prohibited?

  • Outside alcohol – it will be confiscated!
  • Pets – we know they’re super cute, but please leave your four-legged friends at home.
  • Children – also cute, but this event is for ages 21+.

What Should I Bring?

The festival is encouraging people to pack light. The grounds will offer plenty of seating, so leave the lawn chairs at home. Here are a few things you DO want to bring with you:

  • A Full Stomach – While Pearl Street Taphouse and food trucks will be on hand with some brew bites, make sure you eat a proper lunch and hydrate before the festival begins. Jeffersonville and SoIN are home to some great restaurants to fill up before the event … or to extend the festivities after the festival ends. View Jeffersonville Dining Options
  • Your ID – this event is for ages 21+
  • Cash – for food trucks and charity raffle.
  • Designated Driver – Not required, but highly encouraged! Designated drivers get in for free but CANNOT sample any of the beers or other alcoholic beverages. Volunteers will also be around to help call you a taxi, or your mom, or your BFF who missed the fun. Don’t drink and drive!
  • Pretzel Necklace – Keep it classy with a nice palette cleanser.
  • Portable rain slicker (remember the deluge at Fest of Ale 2016?!)
  • Sunscreen & Hat – On the flipside, June can also be very hot. Check the weather before heading out. We all know how quick it can change.
  • Beer Tracking App (like UnTapped) – If you enjoy beer, but haven’t quite memorized all the varieties and nuances, this is a great way to keep track of your favorites so you can find them again later.
  • A healthy appetite for tasting – there are tons of brews and spirits to try, but it’s not a contest. Pace yourself. Anyone who appears to be intoxicated will be denied additional samples and may be deemed to be in violation of public intoxication statutes.

Of course, the most important thing to bring is your craft beer-loving friends. Prost!
