Georgetown, Indiana – The United States of America will reach its 250 anniversary this year. To celebrate this significant time in our history, the Piankeshaw Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Governor Isaac Shelby Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution are partnering to present a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown on April 25 at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony is to honor Patriots Johann Heinrich “Henry” Baker and John Keithley.

Also at this ceremony will be the installation of a Pomeroy Marker. The William G. Pomeroy Foundation is a private, philanthropic organization located in New York committed to supporting the preservation of community history. The Pomeroy Foundation has awarded nearly 2,000 grants for markers and bronze plaques in 46 states and Washington, D.C. This marker program, called “Revolutionary America 1775-1783,” coincides with the celebrations leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary.  These distinct markers will feature a blue background with tan lettering to represent and honor those colors worn by General George Washington’s regiment during the Revolutionary War.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.scribnerhouse.org, or email: PiankeshawChapter@gmail.com
