The Howard Steamboat Museum is pleased to continue our long-running River Ramblings lecture series with a presentation by Mr. Craig Berndt, titled “Over 2,000 Miles on a Pontoon Boat Along the Western Rivers.”

River Ramblings was established in 2010 by the museum’s late Director, Mr. Keith Norrington, as a way to foster river-related talks and discussions that promote river history and the mission of the Howard Steamboat Museum. This year’s program proudly carries on that tradition.

Mr. Berndt’s presentation is a lively and engaging program, peppered with stories from his river adventures and illustrated with photographs from his travels.

About the Presenter
A native of northeast Indiana, Craig Berndt served for many years in the U.S. Navy, both in the Blue Water Navy—aboard ships traveling from the Arctic to the Antarctic—and in the Brown Water Navy on rivers and coastal waters. Since leaving active service, he has continued his passion for waterways, traveling more than 2,000 miles on several U.S. rivers aboard his 24-foot pontoon boat. His PowerPoint presentation explores the fun, rewards, and challenges of river travel on a small pleasure craft.
