Fossils are made of minerals – mostly calcite and quartz. How about agate, fluorite, mica, carbon, ironstone, or coal? Park naturalist and paleontologist, Alan Goldstein, will bring out a variety of fossils made out of different minerals. Why does this happen? Some interesting and colorful examples will be shown, as well as the more typical preservation. Free program in the Interpretive Center rotunda, or in the picnic area if weather permits.
