Every March 17, the memory of Saint Patrick is honored as people celebrate all things Irish. But, have you ever stopped and wondered why we do the things we do on Saint Patrick’s Day? Or, have you ever asked yourself: Who is this Saint Patrick guy; Why do we paint the town green; What is the significance of the shamrock; Why do we eat corned beef and cabbage; and, Where exactly do leprechauns fit in? Presenter Christopher Proctor will take you through the fascinating 1,500-year cultural history of Saint Patrick’s Day and how it has helped shape the identity of the Irish-American diaspora. No registration is required, and coffee and refreshments will be served.
