“The Haunting of the ISLAND MAID”

Produced by Murder and Merriment, this evening of “who done it” for the Howard Steamboat Museum will be unlike anything we have ever hosted.  The guest will be witnessing the players setting up the scene for a murder…and the person who solves it will win a prize.  However, everyone who participates in this fun evening will win, as it is all set up to be a great experience benefitting a very educational and historic organization!

The scene: The Steamboat G.W. HILL, built by the Howard Ship Yards in 1909 has been sold to the Coney Island Company in Cincinnati and recommissioned as the ISLAND MAID.  The year is 1923 and Capt. George Fredrickson is having the boat repaired at Howards after a fire damaged it. One evening he strikes a deal with Capt. Jim Howard to help him search for lost gold that dates back to the French and Indian War.  Fredrickson knows the stretch of the river near the Falls of the Ohio very well where the gold was lost by the French.  Ghostly sightings on the riverboat spook the deckhands, and then one morning, Capt. Fredrickson is found hanged by the neck on the boat!  Police suspect it’s a suicide, but Detective Nick Charleston is convinced there has been a murder!

Imagine the suspense of finding out who did it!  There will be a walkthrough on the first floor of the museum to set the tone prior to dinner.  We will encourage the guests to dress in period (1920’s) clothing to add to the festivities. Dinner will be provided and there will be a cash bar.  We will be using Mark's Feed Store as our caterer for this event. 

Murder and Merriment have been producing these shows in 5 states and are very popular with groups (including performances for cruise lines)!  They have a very satisfied client list of over 100 clients. This should be a great evening’s entertainment for a very reasonable price!
