Corydon Quarry is well-known among mineral collectors as a source of sparkling pink dolomite and golden calcite crystals. Until about 20 years ago, it was accessible to collectors. Hundreds of thousands of specimens were removed. Today, crystals can be found in museums and private collections world-wide. This program will explore the geology behind the bedrock that has been mined for seven decades. What minerals have been found here? Are there any fossils? Has the quarry operations encountered caves? All these questions will be revealed. Alan Goldstein will present and will have some examples to show and give away.
