Join us at Bourne-Schweitzer Gallery on Friday evening for this lecture by Carl DeGraaf and Richard Kopp. We encourage you to drop by this gallery talk to hear the artists speak on their processes and inspirations.

Carl DeGraaf has been producing pottery for over 40 years. He believes an attitude of experimentation is very important for a potter. His work incorporates multiple techniques that create uniquely organic forms. While most of Carl's works are functional they have a richly sculptural quality. DeGraaf states "Beyond being utilitarian, less than an extravagance, hand crafted pottery is a modest indulgence to be enjoyed as a luxury on a daily basis."

Richard Kopp conveys the infinite possibilities that nature offers through his abstract paintings. His paintings aspire to capture nature's beauty by boldly contrasting abstract and drawn elements with a contemporary touch. The lively use of color accentuates the spirited mark-making he includes in his work, hoping to inspire a sense of beauty in the viewer.

The Post Toasties will be playing in the Art Alley in conjunction with the opening reception. The band plays all genres of rock. Band members include Max Zeller, Tori Anderson, Warren Hester, and David Scopelliti. Lead singer Tori Anderson has a bluesy grit that brings an infectious energy to their performances.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Please join us to meet the artists from 6:00 to 7:00pm and enjoy this great talk. To schedule an appointment contact Julie Schweitzer at 502-649-3320 or julie@artseed.art.
