Spring is around the corner! With the warmer weather, thoughts turn to the outdoors and people start getting creative. Jeffersonville’s NoCo Arts & Cultural District has released its schedule of events for the entire year. 

From stand-up comedians to Shakespeare in the Park and a variety of on-hands art workshops, you’ll find events that will satisfy the mind, body, and soul. Plan your spring (summer, fall or winter) to be part of NoCo’s arts renaissance. It promises to be a fabulously creative time!

March

March 28: Comedy By The Bridge 

Shaun Latham Live! Comedian and half-assed chef, Shaun Latham, is coming for one night only. Come out for a laugh, and maybe learn something about cooking, or not.

April

April 11 & 25: Comedy By The Bridge

CBTB is bringing A+ comedians to Kentuckiana. The line-up includes comedians you’ve seen on late-night television, as well as Netflix, Comedy Central, and HBO. 

April 19: Artist in Residence

Artist Malliccaaii (Cai) Green will lead 20 middle school-aged students through a guided painting each month in the NoCo Arts Center.  April’s session is focused on African tribal masks! Registration is required. First 20 to sign up get a seat. Email mdg927@yahoo.com to register.

April 24: Shakespeare in Picasso Pointe

Kentucky Shakespeare brings its production of “Hamlet” to Picasso Pointe as part of its 2020 Shakespeare in the Parks Tour. 

April 25: Chalk Art Olympics at the Vintage Fire Museum Biergarten

Adults are allowed to have fun too! The Vintage Fire Museum is ground zero for the most creative biergarten in town. Enjoy craft beer, live music, an on-site artist creating, and tasty food in an area surrounded by color and creativity!

May

May 9 & 23: Comedy By The Bridge

May 13-15: GCCS Elementary Art Showcase 

An exhibit showcasing artwork from students from the Greater Clark County Elementary Schools.

May 20-25: Abbey Road on the River 

Abbey Road on the River is the world’s largest Beatles-inspired music festival featuring over 30 bands, three outdoor stages, multiple indoor stages, guest speakers, lecturers, artists and, more. 

May 31: Artist in Residence 

Artist Malliccaaii (Cai) Green will lead 20 middle school-aged students through a guided painting each month in the NoCo Arts Center. May’s session is focused on the Art Nouveau period! Registration is required. First 20 to sign up get a seat. Email mdg927@yahoo.com to register.

A nicho is a three-dimensional or recessed display box, much in the spirit of a shadow box, used as a portable shrine to an important figure or loved one. Create a nicho to be on display during the Sugar Skull Shake, Shake, -  Dia’ de Los Muertos Festival! After the fest, all nichos will go home with their makers!

Oct. 24: Sugar Skull Shake, Shake – Dia’ de Los Muertos Festival 

A one-day festival filled with authentic activities surrounding the tradition of El Dia de Los Muertos, or the “Day of the Dead,” which is a time to honor and celebrate deceased loved ones. Folk Art make and take activities, authentic foods, traditional music, dance lessons, a parade, a margarita garden, piñatas and MORE! There’s something for everyone at this special festival!
