Kate Kane, visited Clarksville, Tenn. in June to meet with Frances Manzitto, who manages the city’s group tours. Kane wanted to know how she has been so successful at marketing her destination since her community has fewer attractions than ours does.

Her city has high bus volumes, and Kane met with Manzitto’s merchants and attractions partners to see how they work with their group tour representative.

What did she find? Most of her partners see Manzitto as someone who can bring them valuable business. They also said that marketing to one person who can bring a bus full of 45 people is easier than marketing and appealing to 45 individual patrons. And they felt that marketing to a tour leader or a bus group brought them a higher rate of return.
